Year in Review

As a Club we were reminded at the District Conference to focus on the “We” not the “Me”

When working as a Co-Pres that is very important and Morag and I were always able to talk, collaborate and come to a consensus. It did not mean she always got her way or I, mine. But, what ever we did we worked for the Good of Rotary and hoped we demonstrated this year’s theme “Unite for Good”

I am going to highlight some of the great work “we” achieved as a Club, working together.

The Tree planting project in Lambton Shores where 12,000 to 14,000 trees will be planted
The supplying of glasses to students in Hout Bay South Africa
The donation to the HCPH theatre to support their residence and to see our Name and Logo above their Box Office is heart warming.
The local playgrounds, therapeutic riding centre support, Huron Waves Festival, camps, Food Pantry and many more.
The great history book about Grand Bend written by our very talented Pat Morden
And the Youth and Education Committee have been very busy suppling dictionaries, giving Service Scholarships to deserving youth and sending many local youths to leadership opportunities in Ottawa and London. They also were instrumental in supporting the Interact Club in Exeter with funds and as advisors.
And of course, all of the above could not have been possible without the dedication of the Autumn Indulgence Fundraising opportunity. That group works tirelessly to give the community an event to remember.

I have learned a great deal the last year, met and worked with many great people who love Rotary and all it stands for as an International Service Organization.

There are two people who I need to thank for their support.

Martin - who always has my back and has a wealth of Rotary information from local and national and international experience.

Secondly, my Co-Pres. Morag, as I could not have met a more dedicated, hardworking individual who loves Rotary and the Rotary Ideals.

I want to finish with Key Takeaways to becoming an Irresistible Club which I learned from the District Conference.

Creating a club culture that is welcoming, inclusive, and fun will inspire members to stay and invite others.
Fairness, transparency, and a sense of community are critical for club success.
Intentional focus on attracting, engaging, and retaining members is essential.
Lastly, clubs must adapt and modernize to reflect what people want and need today.
